From Risk to Resilience:
Meteorology and Innovation Driving Africa’s Early Warning Systems

Overview

ClimAfrica Forum 2025 is not just a forum — it is a continental turning point.

Africa is one of the most climate-vulnerable regions in the world—facing rising temperatures, extreme weather, and increasing pressure on food, water, and health systems. Yet, the majority of communities still lack access to early warning systems that save lives and guide decisions.

Co-organised and hosted by the General Directorate of Meteorology of Morocco, ClimAfrica is the most ambitious African initiative to fast-track the deployment of Early Warning Systems (EWS) for all by 2027. It is backed by the latest science from the IPCC and aligned with the WMO Africa Regional Action Plan.

The Forum is designed to deliver:

Scientifically sound solutions
Scalable innovations
Strategic partnerships
Tangible political commitments
Held in the lead-up to COP30, ClimAfrica Forum 2025 will convene governments, scientists, innovators, and development partners to move from fragmented pilot projects to coordinated, operational systems. It aims to unlock investment, strengthen institutions, and scale climate technologies tailored to African realities.

This is more than a high-level event — it is a strategic moment to turn early warning from promise to practice, and to position Africa as a global leader in climate resilience.

Be part of Africa’s climate breakthrough.

Spotlight on ClimAfrica 2025

ClimAfrica Forum 2025, through two days of keynotes, expert panels, workshops, and a continent-wide climate tech pitch, will bring to life the four core pillars of early warning systems defined by the UN and WMO.

Risk Knowledge

Localized climate impact mapping, vulnerability assessments, and the use of both scientific and indigenous knowledge

Monitoring & Forecasting

Leveraging next-generation technologies such as AI, satellite data, IoT, and mobile-based nowcasting tools

Dissemination & Communication

Bridging the last mile using community radio, SMS alerts, and local networks to ensure that warnings reach those most at risk.

Preparedness and Response

Strengthening the ability of institutions and local
governments to act on forecasts and implement anticipatory action plans.

SKYLABS INNOVATION ZONE
